TMNT's History
Just so everyone has an idea and will not be confused. There has been several changes to their history to fit this plot and what is planned.
1950-70s
Master Splinter is Hamato Yoshi who used to be friends with Oroku Saki, the friendship ended when Yoshi won the heart of Tang Shen and retaliated when Saki insulted him in front of Shen. Yoshi and Shen married and had a daughter, Miwa. Saki had then attacked the family out of hatred and jealousy, fighting Yoshi and started a fire where his wife and daughter were presumed to have perished (at least Shen had died, but Miwa was not found) and Yoshi fled to New York from his tremendous heart break.
1970-80s
Yoshi Hamato had lived peacefully in New York, trying to get over his wife and daughter's deaths and start a new life as a defense teacher. He had bought four little baby box turtles, and got entangled with strange men exchanging a vial of mutagen after stepping on a rat's tail and revealing himself. The men dropped the Mutagen during the scuffle and Yoshi dropped the bowl with the turtles in it into the goo once he was touched by the substance. The turtles have became humanoid infants/toddlers and Yoshi became an adult rat. The five hid away in the sewers until it was ready for them to come out.
1980-2000s
Yoshi, who is now known as "Master Splinter" raised and trained the turtles since their mutation. The turtles have grown up on a diet similar to the diets of box turtles, until their first journey to the surface, in which Splinter had hesitatingly allowed them to do, where they have been introduced to pizza when they scared off an delivery boy on accident. The four decided to head home after another round of exploring before they spotted a woman being taken captive by strange men that were once described by Splinter when he told them the story of how they came to be. They decided to rescue her, fighting the strange men and noticed that they were robots during the fight.
During the scuffle, the robots managed to succeed escaping with her and the four decided to follow them, being lead to the TCRI building where the woman was to be held. Leonardo hatched a plan to break in and rescue her, and the four succeeded--later finding that the robots were basically disguises for these weird aliens that were called Utroms. But why they were kidnapping the woman who revealed herself to be April O'Neil was a mystery.
April became an addition to the family, who had learned that the turtles were good and befriended them.
Splinter had decided to make Leonardo the leader of the team, seeing as they needed one if they were going to to up to the surface more often. Since then, they began roaming the surface--sometimes stopping crime or trying to find out more about the Utroms. Shredder had later learned about them and decided to come to New York to finish what he started (namely his Vendetta over Splinter).
They had met many enemies and few allies along the way (Namely Bishop, Baxter, Leatherhead, Casey Jones, etc), struggling to survive against the Shredder's reign of terror. The turtles had snuck in TCRI numerous times with the help of Leatherhead, finding database chips and eventually discovered their plans and why they needed April. Utroms happened to be the good guys and needed April because her DNA was specifically unique and might help them go back home. So, the turtles decided to become allies with the Utroms.
Later, the Shredder successfully lured and trapped the turtles, causing Splinter to emerge to save his sons. The turtles battled with the Shredder one last time, or they thought. The last they saw of Oroku Saki was when he was lost in a explosion and there was no time to save him.
Karai became the new Leader of the foot, and blamed the turtles for her father's presumed demise. After going through several battles, Leonardo managed to get it through to her that Shredder's demise was his own cause and they tried to save him.
Much to their dismay, it seemed that the Utroms managed to discover Saki as he was on his last breath and took him in to bring the man back to health. No one knew of this, of course, as the Utroms planned on "rewiring" the Foot master's brain so he will no longer be hostile to the Hamato family. They later discovered that Karai was adopted, from viewing the Shredder's memories and come to believe that Karai was the infant he found after the fire and presumed that Karai may belong to Hamato Yoshi. However, they figured it was best to keep this to themselves.
Splinter decided that his sons should receive higher training, and they headed to Japan where the Ancient One lived to do so. Karai later joined them simply because she felt that it would make her into a better leader. Course.. The turtles were rather cautious of her. After almost two years of training with the Ancient One, the family moved back to New York, hoping that the city was in decent condition.
They happened to come home with the city at war (Between the Purple Dragons and the Foot Clan. Bishop was also involved, but only because he wanted to stop it)
2000-Present
With a "Gang War" going on between the Foot and the Dragons, the brothers got involved to attempt in ending it by either eliminating the Purple Dragons or providing some form of agreement to end it. The city war between both factions eventually ended with the help of Bishop and the Turtles, but it did not end the hatred that still rose between the clans. Because Karai took over, Hun would never bow to her because she was not the Shredder because of the turtles plaguing her mind about right and wrong. However, he dared not incite another city war mostly because of Bishop.
A truce had been set up between the Turtles and the Foot and has remained even through the Turtles becoming adults.
